Every year for the next two decades, an estimated 15-20 million people will enter the African labor market. Further, by 2030, Africa will be home to more than a quarter of the global total under 25, accounting for 60% of the continent's total population and 15% of the world's current workforce. This population growth will undoubtedly establish Africa as the new frontier for technological innovation (World Economic Forum, 2019).
That is why we are so excited to announce our partnership with Tunga to be able to help more talented people in Africa connect to life-changing opportunities and excel in international tech careers.

At Microverse, we help global talent change their lives through remote training to enter and thrive in the international job market. Our number one goal is to help students get well-paying and rewarding jobs as web developers. Throughout the program, students spend ten months learning and working through programming languages and concepts and acquiring many professional and technical skills, all while learning collaboratively online.
Further, our extensive remote and cross-cultural training ensures that these developers are ready for global web development opportunities. We have already helped thousands of students from over 100 countries improve their lives through our Full-stack Web Development Program at Microverse.

The Tunga platform helps remove barriers African youth face to joining international software teams and projects. Tunga now supports more than 900 skilled African software developers and engineers. The company has an established and extensive network in Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt and is continuously expanding.
Mark Akampurira, a software developer who has worked with two Tunga clients, shared that his Tunga experience has allowed him to understand cultural differences and the value of communication.
He further emphasizes, "You also have to learn and appreciate the business model the clients are running, for them to be able to appreciate the kind of problems they are trying to solve. And that comes with asking a lot of questions.”
Given the open source community's current adoption of production methods, it is evident software is increasingly being developed by virtual teams. At the same time, there is a global shortage of software developers worldwide. While Microverse focuses on training world-class developers to fill global gaps, Tunga focuses on placing developers in remote jobs that provide them with the experience necessary to compete globally.
